Public Health in Action

The Public Health in Action Committee strategizes and creates opportunities for NYSPHA members to engage in direct public health practice.

This may include volunteer opportunities, partnerships with other organizations and agencies, and providing leadership, assistance, and support to advance public health priorities. Committee members raise awareness of NYSPHA among potential partners in the public health field, the work of the committee, and how they can support partners in achieving their goals. Once partners are engaged, they work with those partners to advance specific areas of public health.  Through the work of this committee and the multiple projects that are developed, membership participation and internship and practicum opportunities are created.

If you are a NYSPHA member interested in getting involved or a student looking for an internship or practicum, email committee chair, Brett Harris, at BHarris@albany.edu.

  • Cardiovascular health is one of the many focuses of the Public Health in Action Committee. The committee recently produced a Youth Cardiovascular Resource Guide, led by Scarsdale High School student Alina Yang.
