NYSPHA President Elected to APHA Executive Board

NYSPHA President, Brett Harris, was elected to the American Public Health Association (APHA) Executive Board at the APHA annual meeting in Washington, DC! The APHA Executive Board is an elected body of public health experts that serve on behalf of the Governing Council. Brett is excited to serve alongside fellow Affiliate leaders and to represent New York in advocating for public health. Congratulations, Brett!

NYSPHA was active throughout the APHA annual meeting this week. Leaders and staff participated in Affiliate Day, bringing home new ideas as we head into 2026. President Brett Harris was also honored with the Innovation in Public Health Award at the Affiliate luncheon for her efforts to prioritize mental health at NYSPHA.

NYSPHA had several notable presentations throughout the conference as well. Brett presented on the Express Yourself for Public Health discussion series, Executive Director Erin Sinisgalli presented on health equity, and Climate Chair Susan Harris represented NYSPHA on an Affiliate climate change panel.

NYSPHA also joined university partners Columbia University and the University at Buffalo for networking receptions. Finally, NYSPHA leadership and members raised our voices at the APHA Rally for Public Health on the National Mall, advocating for public health.
